TV progams that must be not be viewed at all costs
by TooBad TooSad inthe elder giving the public talk a couple of weeks ago told the congregation that there are more and more.
movies and tv programs, like charmed, or books and movies like harry potter that must be avoided at all costs.
because they are a direct link to demonism and spiritism.

by jefferywhat inall boe have just got a letter telling them to encourage all parents to be more on guard with their children.
suggestions such as not letting your young children go to the toilet on their own, not working with older men on their own and not leaving children in the car on rv's and calls un attended.
the letter basically instructed the elders to remind all family heads that its their responsibility to protect their children whilst at and away from the hall etc.

Science is like the WTBTS...(always coming out with New Light)
by journey-on inscience has tried over the centuries to explain human existence, cosmology, and the nature of life.. at any given time in history, any number of theories have been postulated and the masses accepted them.
as fact because some great scientist came up with it and was able to baffle us/them with mathematical.
equations to "prove" it so.

Read about the Scientific Method (or Methods). Your question will then be answered.
Ditto. The science of the present was built upon the science of the past. Not that it always contains elements of past error per se, but that recognizing errors (even errors long held to be true) is part of the process.

How many DF'd and DA'd ex-JWs still believe it's the truth?
by Nellie ini just got off the phone with my sister-in-law.
we don't talk regularly at all - but today the discussion turned to our beliefs.
she's da'd herself 15 years ago, but she is still filled with guilt over not being able to live up to the standards of the witnesses.

It is very common.
I think the biggest thing that effects people that leave is that they never realize that the image and ideals the Watchtower Society makes you blelieve are there are nothing more than a facade.
There is no "unity" as they like to claim. It is all a form of strict conformity. People do things (and refrain from doing things) many times out of fear, not because deep down in their heart they want to. There is a very strong sense of "believe this or die".
I would often wonder how you could really know if people where doing things in the Watchtower because it came from the heart, when there was always harsh social and psychological pressures (not to mention potential punishments) for them to do things.
The Watchtowers image of a global, unified, moral organization that is perfectly streamlined to accomplish the work of god is a false image. Not only does it not exist, it is totally impossible for something of that sort to honestly exist at all. The only way an organization can meet all those ideals is if they find ways to make it appear as if they are there, but not actually meet them.
So many people that leave still believe it was a legitimate thing and continue to blame themselves. Its a real shame. -

Don't Fret About the "Fastest Growing Religion"
by metatron inonce upon a time, there was a vast empire that was born of out events around 1914. it demanded that its youth become "pioneers".. it grew rapidly and published endless statistics of growth.
it attracted an ever-growing number of desperate people in the 3rd world.. however, what no one seemed to notice, amidst all the evidence of its growing might, was that its empire was a money losing proposition.
and that it made endless numbers of enemies thru its aggression.

Blowing "BLOODGUILT" out of the water. Logically.
by Open mind infor any lurkers who doubt that the wt does not use guilt & fear as key motivators consider the term "bloodguilt" as used in last sunday's wt.
in the very first paragraph it was mentioned that "failure to assume the responsibility of warning people of the choice that lies before them could result in our incurring bloodguilt.".
wt: "if you don't preach, you're gonna die.".

The way that the Watchtower logic completes the circle of madness is that when you suggest that you have their lives in your hands they will abruptly tell you that you do not. That God will save those worth saving and that if you allow yourself to be used then you will be rewarded but if you don't let yourself be used then you will be blood guilty.
Of course, telling people they are responsible makes it seem much more important. Telling somebody that they should do something but God will take care of it regardless doesn't get people too fired up.
Personally, I think the very fact that the WTS has to motivate people to go out in field service through fear shows how out of touch this activity of theirs is. It was developed during a time when the believers where much more excited about the cause, and mostly all members where first or second generation. As time goes on you can never continue to keep that kind of excitement going. It died out for the Mormons, the adventists, the Christian Scientists, and now it is dying out for the JWs. They are moving into a time when their members are going to be a lot less excited and a lot more every day. Field Service is a reminder of where they used to be, not where they are going. -

Ex-JW Joy Castro writes her own "Truth Book" to cope, share, help

it was written about an associate professor of english studies.

Every year nearly 40,000 are disfellowshipped . How many disassociate ?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inevery year nearly 40,000 members are disfellowshipped mostly due to ''conduct unbecoming a christain.
'' in a 10 year period, that would be close to 400,0000 members.. does anyone know if the wts know the numbers who disassociate themselves?
do they know the number of ''faders''?

cognac, the 40,000 number is thrown around a lot by Circuit and District overseers during their visits and assemblies.
To my knowledge the 40,000 number includes both and they never give a breakdown. They usually just say something general like "the vast majority was because of immorality". The numbers of disassociated ones is most likely at least in the thousands and I don't think they want the general membership to know that many make the decision to leave.
I believe that most JWs think that practically nobody disassociates. They most likely think everybody that leaves is disfellowshipped. It could be a real moral breaker to know that there are thousands leaving each year by choice. -

From what I can see the letter has yet to make its way to the net. I'm going to hold off any comments until it's shown that this is the real deal.
This is quite interesting, if true.
